"Denim" is sired by BISS Ch Cameo Dreamchaser (Chase is co-owned by Lorna Staab - Sta-a-Bit and his breeder Marilyn Marlow - Cameo Shelties). Denim is out of Highfields Almost Winter (Facet, a full sister to Ch Highfields Winter Landscape (Caper) ... both sired by my Highfields Winter Weather (Badger). Denim was WD/BOW at the Memphis Kennel Club show on August 16, 2014 for his second major and finished his AKC Championship. He was beautifully presented by Jessica Starbuck, Jesstar Shelties. Denim is co-owned by Ellen Brown Ragland and myself. He is Champion #6 for his sire BISS Ch Cameo Dreamchaser.
In 2016 Denim finished #4 Sheltie in the country in the AKC National Owner Handler Series. Being in the top 10 qualified him to compete in the AKC Owner Handler Finals in December of 2016. Ellen Ragland and I made the trip, and while we did not win (there was only one winner and the #! dog won, which only seems fair) it was an honor to be there!!

Denim started his show career off with a bang by winning the points at his first two shows, Ft Lauderdale Dog Club, March 19 and 20, under Mrs Lee Canalizo and Mr Eric Ringle respectively, at just a few days after he turned 6 months. Thanks go to April Dunford, Gina Grosso and Diane Miles for those first points. After that he was shown sparingly and picked up some reserves, but between growing pains and puppy brain needed time to mature. In October 2011 he was Best Adult in Match at the SSC of Southeast Florida under respected breeder Gael Silverman (Gala Shelties). After more time out to grow up, he came back out at the Palm Beach Dog Fanciers show on March 11,2012 and was WD/BOS under respected breeder judge Mrs Lynette Saltzman. The following weekend, March 18, 2012 he picked up another point at the Ft Lauderdale Dog Club show under Ms. Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine giving him a total of 4 points at 18 months of age.
Photos of him as a puppy (credit to April Dunford, Summerlove Shelties) as well as of all his wins are shown above.
On Sunday April 29, 2012 at the Treasure Coast Kennel Club show Denim was WD for a 3 point major!!! Thank you to Carol Essrick for presenting him so beautifully and handling him to that win. He now has 7 points, one major.
On June 21, 2012 Denim took a major RWD at the Mid Florida Shetland Sheepdog Specialty and then took another major reserve at the Central Fl Kennel Club on June 23, 2012 under Robert Vandiver. Thanks again go to Carol Essrick for handling him to these wins.
After breaking my ankle in July, we sat home for the next few months, Finally on November 18, 2012 Denim picked up yet another major RWD at the Ocala Dog Club Show under Donald Booxbaum and handled by Carol Essrick, then on December 1, 2012 at the South Dade Kennel Club show he was WD under Ms. Maria C Gutierrez-Otero handled by me, giving him 8 points with one major at just over 2 years of age.
We skipped the January circuit for personal reasons and resumed showing in the spring of 2013.
On April 27, 2013 Denim was WD/BW and BOB at the Treasure Coast Show under Doris Miller and on May 26, 2013 was WD/BW under Pete Dawkins at the Greater Ft Myers Dog Club. Then on July 13, 2013, he was again WD/BW at the Jupiter Tequesta show under Ms. F Susan Godek, giving him 12 points, one major.
In March 2014 he was WD for another 2 points at the Ft Lauderdale Dog Club show under Ms Patricia Laurans, but unfortunately didn't take BW for the major. He was handled by me for all these wins.
On June 7, 2014 Denim took his fourth major reserve at the Boca Raton Dog Club show under June Penta, then on July 13, 2014 his fifth major reserve at the Jupiter Tequesta Show under Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine.
Denim won his second major, to finish, at the Memphis Kennel Club on August 16, 2014, beautifully presented by Jessica Starbuck.
